I haven’t always been comfortable in my own skin. These social media filters make everyone look perfect. Now a days society demands perfection and criticizes-especially virally- anything less. Why can’t I have freshly photoshopped skin in real life?!?? But. Really…. Why would that even be realistic? Why would that expectation even be acceptable, or even be honored for that matter? We are human. I believe that life has reluctantly taught me that there’s no such thing as perfect. Not a thing. I’m a woman, and yes, I have flaws (not even just physical) but as cliche as it sounds… They are what define me and distinguish my individuality. Alil character per say. It’s okay if you don’t look like a supermodel, Kim Kardashian, or what our generation would call a “instagram celebrity,” you are you. That’s what’s so beautiful about perspective. Everyone has their own. Everyone is different. Everything ain’t for everybody. There is beauty in everything. Be your own kind of beautiful.
Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself. -Coco Chanel
Perfection is a disease of a nation. -Beyonce
